Art in the Park - Group Activism
Art activism happened this Spring day because Kimberly Piazza of 5 Windows Gallery fired our minds, piqued our interests and offered up an invitation to be visible and speak out through the media of art.
Jill challenged Angela Childers to create an Art Activist piece. Angela talked to Seth who came up with an idea that excited the group who were “chillin’” at Lee Fong Park in Weaverville.

Lions, Tigers, and Butterflies - Oh MY!
The ARTS Council’s face painting booth at the Childrens’ Festival transformed happy angelic
children into devils, super heroes, lions, tigers, and butterflies as the high school students who volunteered their time provided full face theatrical face painting to the delight of hundreds of children.

This booth is always popular with a never ending line of patient children so we usually paint a simple item on a cheek such as a flower, cat, lightening bolt and let the children be on their way. But Amanda Cloud from Trinity High School provided us with 4talented art students, Taylor Steele, Kaylah Hammer, Beth Tyler, and Sierra Jackson who spent 4 hours, non-stop meeting the crushing demand for transformations. The Arts Council THANK YOU for your stellar contribution. | A little Less |

The ARTS Council collaborates with service organizations
The ARTS Council has become a "Go-To-Organization" for adding an engaging ARTS aspect to many events. The 4 H Art Extravaganza was April 28 in Hayfork, in which we provided a watercolor workshop to 15 children ranging in ages from 6 years to 16. May 11, the TRINITEENS workshop to prevent drug abuse invited us to provide 2 art workshops for a total of 52 teens offering art as a means of expression instead of dumming down with drugs.
| A little More |
May 12 the ARTS Council spent a day painting faces at the Childrens' Festival. ART Activism was a vision that we adopted as we collaboratedwith Angela and Seth Childers to create an impromptu art day for all who wished to attend to express their hopes for our country through the expression of art. The Joss House Association requested our help on a donation drive to earn funds to stop closure of the Chinese Joss House. We solicited 21 pieces of art for an auction that earned $1,500 for the cause and created digital reproductions for the website, cards, and brochures. In respose to the need to build our tourism industry, the ARTS Council has developed a brochure providing information about art galleries, antique stores, specialty art shops, and art fairs. The brochure will be distributed at all tourism venues within a 200 mile radius of Trinity County. | A little Less |
